"Destiny's Blood" is a fast paced sci-fi adventure of love, politics and betrayal - with a little magic mixed in. The characters help draw the reader into their world, through the many twists and turns of the plot.
I greatly enjoyed "Destiny's Blood". It's an interesting blend of sci-fi, paranormal and mystery. The characters are well delineated, their journey compelling. Author Bilodeau clearly shows the love between Yoma and Layela, as well as Ardin and his sister, Avienne. The bond between the siblings keeps them strong and determined as they fight to protect one another.
I recommend this book to anyone liking a lively adventure across space.

Destiny's Blood is a compelling, exciting, adventure story that doesn't
give the reader or the characters time to catch their breaths. The
story follows Layela on her run from the law and her search for answers
- answers she believes her twin sister Yoma holds. On the way she is
both helped and hindered on her quest by friends who strive to protect
her from the dangers she faces and the destiny she would rather avoid.
Although Destiny's Blood is a departure from Bilodeau's other books
(the Heirs of a Broken Land trilogy) in that it is a space fantasy,
readers will still find themselves on familiar ground. The story is
driven by strong female leads who take matters into their own hands when
their lives and their families are in danger. Magic and action still
reign supreme. And Bilodeau once again crafts a world full of depth and
mystery that readers will enjoy visiting and be reluctant to leave.
Marie Bilodeau's book, Destiny's Blood, is a fantastic adventure that never lets down the pace. This Aurora Award Nominee (2011) is fast paced as we are introduced to Yoma and Layela, twins who have had a sorrid past. It is Layela who wishes to settle down to a nice quiet life as a florist while her sister continues the theive's lifestyle. The twins are searched for by both evil and friendly forces to bring back life to the First Star. Throughout their adventures they are knocked down and rise up over and over to fulfill their destiny to ensure life continues in the universe. A great read, I can't wait to see what Marie has planned next.
