“In the fourth book of the Cleary Case Files series, Clark (Third Breath, 2014, etc.) brings back FBI Special Agent Shawn Cleary in a gripping blend of terrorism, serial killers, and even a little romance… A well-crafted thriller that manages to be both timely and timeless.” – Kirkus Reviews
This is the one you’ve been waiting for!!
FBI Agent Shawn Cleary has hunted twin serial killers Trevor and Mitchell Gant since the series began. Their final chess match involves multiple moves as it careens toward a heart-stopping confrontation.
Fourplay, Book Four of the Cleary Case Files, finds FBI Agent Shawn Cleary acting as both guardian and foil. Twin serial killers Trevor and Mitchell Gant have framed her, killed her grandmother, and stalked everyone she cares about with a vow to save her for last.
As Mitchell’s murder trial finally begins, Trevor lurks in the shadows doing everything he can to spring his brother. Nothing is off the table; hiring mercenaries to kidnap children, killing FBI agents, or tampering with the jury. The endgame for Mitchell leaves everyone stunned.
Terrorist threats and the ensuing chaos nearly overwhelm Shawn as she pursues perpetrators from Washington, D.C. to California and finally Alaska. Shawn and her cohorts rush to the scene of a cruise ship attack where the raging fires and climbing death toll create the perfect diversion for Trevor’s checkmate ploy that Shawn can’t possibly anticipate.
“Clark’s greatest gift to readers is her breakneck pacing, which keeps the narrative flying along…it zigs and zags along the way, taking unexpected turns…She doesn’t give short shrift to characterization, though, especially of Shawn, who cares deeply for those she loves while also being a tough agent near the top of her field…A well-crafted thriller that manages to be both timely and timeless.” – Kirkus Reviews
Fourplay The Cleary Case Files Book 4 eBook Patricia Clark
One of the best series I have read over many decades of reading. Book four in the Cleary Case Files,Fourplay was a gripping novel of surprises and suspense, filled with rich FBI tales from serial killer to terrorism to vigilantes.I strongly encourage you to read this series, from one to four, in order, so as to get the full effect of the characterizations and action. From book one First Kill All the Lawyers, the author set up scenes and action that had the reader wondering "how would they get out of this one?"
Shawn Cleary is an FBI agent, the star of the series, and of book four Fourplay. The author didn't waste valuable time delving into what made Shawn tick, as well as the other characters. They were defined by the actions they took, by their brilliant strategizing, by their relationships to each other. I love to binge out on series and found this series to be one of the best I've read. Fourplay is the culmination of bringing all the challenges and suspense Shawn and her cohorts faced to satisfying, even righteous conclusions.
If you like fast paced action with layers of challenges and conflict, this is the series for you. Fourplay brought me to tears at the end, complex tears of sadness, joy and many other feelings in between. I have deep respect for a book that can evoke such strong feelings in me.
The reason I only gave four stars was the editing and contextual flubs, which at best, were distraction, at worst strong irritants. It seemed like every few pages another error kept me from rolling forward with the characters as the scenes played themselves out. If not for that, this book would surely have been 5 stars, as well as each of the preceding books in the series.
I was sad to reach the end of the series, having bonded and connected with all the characters!

Fourplay The Cleary Case Files Book 4 eBook Patricia Clark Reviews
good
As always a great story line and hard to put the book down. Looking forward to book 5 hopefully soon
This book has plenty of twists and turns. It even has enough details of the previous books in the series that I don't feel compelled to seek them out.
This is the third book in the series and it was just as captivating as the others! Great characters and story telling! Highly recommend this author!!
This is the second book I have read staring Shawn, and it was so good that I plan to go back and start the series at the beginning.
The only thing that kept me from a five star rating was the proofreading. Errors are a real distraction.
Shawn drawn back as fellow cops have been killed. A call. Telling her the game is aimed at her friends and family, then it will be just her.. The Gnat is back also. The plot is a fast paced thriller, the characters are good, and the tension to get the killer is high. This is book 4 in this series.readers will definitely enjoy this and maybe there will be book 5. This left Clare and Shawn at odds.
Patricia Clark's latest novel in the Cleary Case File series defines the word "thriller." Agent Shawn Cleary returns to face a score of fanatics, extremists, and the malevolent Gant twins bent on destroying Shawn, her friends and family, and her country.
Fourplay's action is engagingly complex as terrorists attack the country on multiple fronts. The NGO Patronus has made some spectacular saves, but the group is the embodiment of vigilantism. Their first major mistake brings the FBI closer to discovering who, in their own house, is part of the alliance.
Shawn has an abiding love for the people dearest to her, and she has made difficult but understandable decisions to protect them from the wrath of the Gant brothers. Her resolve is tested with the return of the one man who has captured her heart, and ultimately, the heart cannot be denied.
Chance, or maybe providence, lead Shawn to a personal confrontation as this book roars to a shocking conclusion. The first three books in the Cleary Case File series are excellent lead-ins to this amazing best in the series!
